The good news is everyone had a great time to Palomar and beyond, the bad news I did not make the ride. At the last minute this morning as the meeting wrapped up and everyone started to get ready to form the 2 or 3 groups for the Saturday morning ride, I started to get a bit ill, went and sat down and with out going into a lot of detail, decided I better bail on this ride. Seems the bug/sore throat that I caught in Tucson has not been completely vanquished even with some heavy duty meds, and it would be prudent to wait and do this ride some other time. Plus I had already made the trip a couple weeks ago as part of the Pre-ride and had enjoyed it then. I really appreciated the concern and understanding of everyone. No one had brought enough duct tape to strap me on the Stratoliner in case I got a little wobbly on the ride. Their motto is we leave no one behind, as long as Brian and John are there to strap your motorcycle with you on it to one of theirs and tow you home.
A highlite of the trip would be lunch at the Santa Ysabel Indian Casino on Hwy 79 just a few miles from the East Grade road intersection and Hwy 76 and I had been looking forward to a great lunch there since the choice was based on my recommendation. All the reports I have received indicate it went extremely well for an on-the- road food experience. I received a very heart warming personal message from Patty telling me I was missed on the trip and that they were having a great time. A special group menu was offered with a choice of a chicken salad, or an Ortega chicken sandwich and the third option was a cheese burger but with drink, meal with fries, tax and tip the total would be $10...a real bargain these days. On our previous visit Ed had worked this out with the manager and they really came through.
I did take a few photos of our early morning gathering and at least can share those with everyone.
We also get to sing Happy Birthday to Carol for her April Birthday
I thought the whole outfit would be just fringe but I was wrong on that assumption.
I look OK here
